This happens sometimes when fresh installing a custom ROM. If your proximity sensor seems not to work, try the following:
1. Blow pressurized air into the front speaker (proximity sensor sits right beside it and dirt could sneak in that way)
2. If 1 does not help, try "Proximity Fix" from Play Store and reboot.
3. If 1 and 2 don't help, open a terminal app like "Terminal Emulator", grant it super user rights and type
$ echo 0 > /sys/devices/virtual/sensors/proximity_sensor/prox_cal
$ echo 1 > /sys/devices/virtual/sensors/proximity_sensor/prox_cal
$ chown system:system /efs/prox_cal
$ chmod 644 /efs/prox_cal
$ sync
and reboot.

You should know what you do, I'm not responsible for damage to your phone.
