Bluetooth keeps switching off and the on after some time

So, I almost never use my bluetooth for more than a few minutes to exchange some files. Yesterday I bought a new pair of bluetooth headphones. When connected and listening to music everything works fine. After a random amount of time, usually within 10 minutes, the bluetooth radio on the phone turns off and then turns on again by itself. This is really annoying because I have to connect my headphones all the time, and the music starts playing on the phone without warning while being in public. Any solutions? Is this a common issue?
