Bricked?

Hello.
For Christmas, I picked myself up a new Kindle Fire (Ford/KFFOWI, I believe it came with Fire OS 5.1.1) off of Amazon for $50, because it seemed like a good deal.
I quickly tired of Fire OS, and came to xda to see what I could do with this device. I managed to get SlimLP flashed onto the device using FlashFire after rooting, and I was happy with it for roughly a week or so. Then, I wanted to get Xposed working, and found that I'd need to switch to a different ROM, as some of the ART optimizations in the SlimLP build didn't play nicely with Xposed.
I tried flashing CM12.1 (again, using FlashFire), but the device powered off during flashing.
Now, it appears CM is partially flashed, but I also have a brick.
Holding the volume down key while booting gets stuck at the amazon boot screen, and I'm unable to enter recovery mode. Since the bootloader was locked, I was never able to get TWRP flashed either.
Holding down the volume up key successfully enters fastboot mode, but I don't see very many useful things that I can do from here.
Booting normally, without holding down any buttons, gets stuck at the CM bootscreen with the blue android.

Is there anything that I can do for this device? I'm leaning towards no. Would the best bet be returning it to Amazon, hoping that they replace it, despite the bricked device & voided warranty?

Thanks
My apologies if I have posted this in the wrong place, or haven't provided enough information.
