Carrier switching and OTA upgrades

Hey guys,

Moving from a bricked S4 to an LG G4. Found a good deal on craigslist, already network unlocked, but its running zv3. I'm wondering if I can move up to zv5 and such (for root of course) and keep it on Verizon. Any experiences?
