Any way to have reverse landscape when using HDMI output?

I have a portable monitor that I'm trying to use with my NST and due to the monitors design it's desirable for me to use it upside down.

So I want to use reverse landscape mode for orientation while I have the shield outputting through HDMI.

However it appears to be "locked" to the HDMI screen's orientation because when I change the orientation to reverse landscape on the NST it immediately changes back (so fast you'd miss it if you blinked). Other rotation's like portrait can be set.

Is there some way to achieve reverse landscape HDMI or am I stuck with one orientation when using console mode?
