Hi, I bought a phone for my dad from Amazon which said it was brand new.
Upon arrival the phone seemed brand new, packed properly with charger and headphones etc...
Tried to set up the phone and on language selection the phone defaults to Englsih (Philippines)... which was strange but i ignored it.
Anyway its firmware version is currently 4.4.2, so i tried to update and am prompted with "your device has been modified. Software updates are not available"
So i look for the device status and expect to see "modified" but instead.... "Device status: Official"
Now I'm really surprised... I'm thinking is the phone fake or not etc so I start doing some research for approximately 5 hours
One of the threads on xda said take the sd card out clear the cache from "recovery" (I'm not an expert in messing with android at all). so i tried that and factory reset... no dice.
So that's the story, since I learned a lot of **** and now know the following...
The device is rooted
Build number KOT49H.N9005ZHUENH4
Knox warranty Void: 0x1
Hongkong Firmware installed
Pilippines Firmware is the original
I need United Kingdom Firmware
The reason I haven't just unrooted it using a video guide and an android 5.0 stock firmware is because I have read in a few places that theres something I need to do with the CSC? and recovery?
TLDR I'm overwhelmed with information and I don't know what is correct and incorrect, I don't want to ruin my dads phone. I need some guidance and advice from the community and i need files to download and do something with.
