For my device, the IMEI number was printed on the box so it was relatively easy to restore it.
The first thing is to open the device in engineering mode. This is done with the following code *#*#3646633#*#*
Then swipe to Connectivity and tap CDS Information, then tap on Radio Information. Then tap on Phone 1.
Then enter AT+ EGMR=1,7,"IMEI" and press SEND AT COMMAND. (Where IMEi is IMEi no of your device)
Make sure there is a space between AT+ and EGMR otherwise you will get an error. Also dont forget ""
Once the command is sent, reboot your device and then check the IMEI number again by using *#06#.
This method works with all variants of Lenovo A7-30
